Early Remington Beals Navy

Post by Barry »

Hello, I have a Beals Navy ,serial number 419 with the cylinder rod that does not come out all the way. The latch stud is missing from the barrel and has a gray finish through out with very little pitting. The bore is very good and bright. The original grips are in very good condition and have been notched out at the bottom of the grip frame for a lanyard. My questions are 1. Could this possibly be one of the pistols sold to South Carolina in 186o? 2) Is there a good resource to purchase a latch stud and were these threaded to the barrel or sweat on? (there is a slight indent hole where the stud was without any threads showing) The pistol is all matching numbers with remains of silver plating on the trigger guard. The loading lever latch has two ears with out a machined slot for a thin rod. Thank you for any thoughts on this early Beals Navy. :) Barry
