Fieldmaster 572 Restoration Referral? (Mechanical/Cosmetic)

Post by Coarsegold1 »

Good Morning RSA,

Before my grandfather passed he gave me his Remington Fieldmaster 572 (it is not the teal or the checkered). It seems to have mechanical issues (slide seems to pop out of the receiver and consequently it has loading/ejecting issues) and it could use a cosmetic restoration as well. I completely realize this isn't a smart financial move, but honestly that isn't my concern. I just want it to be in as nice condition as possible representing him and for when I get to pass it along some day too.

So... are any of you, or do any of you have a honest and very capable gunsmith who can handle the mechanical as well as the bluing/cosmetic, etc.?

Thanks in advance for your guidance,

Rob

I would call Rugh Farm & Supply, only because I am familiar with their work, their gunsmith has a good reputation.
Most gunshops will do the repair, but really doesn't want to get into the other things you mentioned such as stock repair or re-bluing.
