Looking for advice on how to install the mainsprings on a model 1894 doublebarrell. Any advice would be appreciated.

Carefully ! For some God unknown reason I wanted to remove a hammer on a 1894. Had the receiver upside down in a vise, sears removed, and was holding the hammer in place with a screwdriver as I tapped the hammer pin out. Now I knew there was a lot of pressure on the hammer, but it didn't want to come out so I removed the screwdriver. With my face over the receiver I gave the hammer a tap. Out she came, cut my lip, and broke a tooth off my false teeth. Don't remember how I put it back in, probably with the same screwdriver - carefully. Good luck - Paul
