What slug do you use to reload 38-40 remington? where can I get a mold ?
I just purchaced a # 2 in 38-40 remington & want to shoot it.

First make sure it is 38-40 Remington and not 38-40 Winchester. Most are 38-40 WCF. Big difference.

It is definately 38-40 Remington. We cerrosafe cast the chamber.

.38-40 Remington and .38-50 Remington used bullets similar to the other .38s of their day (e.g. .38-55 etc.). I use either Lyman 375248 or RCBS 37250, both of which cast about 260 grains. The RCBS mould is for a gas check bullet, the Lyman is plain base. The bore on my .38-40 No. 3 measures 0.376", so that's what I size the bullets. Cases can be made from .30-40 Krag trimmed to 1-3/4" and full length sized. Good shooting!
