Just recived pistol as part of passed down collection

PATENTED SEPT. 14. 1858
E.REMINGTON&SONS.ILON.NEWYORK.U.S.A.
NEW MODEL

well used not abused

ser. # 2779 both numbers match bottom of barrel and under left walnut grip

any history and production date would be appreciated

Something doesnt fit? Serial number 2779 is not a number for a New Model Remington? This is a number for and Old Model or a "61" Model? Do you have a Repro? Jay Huber RSA

It has been in the family for 52+ years, the number under the grip appears as 277 9, under the barrel it is only 277 the last number is not apparent or is pitted. Thus far all items in collection are originals, is there a place in Florda that I could have it verified?
