1861 Navy

Post by Greg »

I am currently restoring a Remington 1861 Navy. Its serial number is in the 165XX range. The original cylinder pin was broken at the loading lever. The loading lever and front of the gun assembly are not notched like the .44 cal. New Models. I am not sure how to place the reproduction cylinder pin in the gun and close the loading lever without modifying something. My question is weither or not the winged portion of the cylinder pin was notched or do I need to locate a notched loading lever. Any direction on this would be appreciated.

You need a 61 loading lever which is slotted to allow the cylinder pin to be slid forward without the lever being dropped. The cylinder pin has to have two slots in it to allow it to travel forward in the grove in the loading lever. Jay Huber RSA
