My husband was given his grandfather's rifle and we are looking for all the info we can get on it. Is it rare? It is marked: Remington Arms Co. Inc. Successor to the Remington Arms U.M.C. Co. Inc. Remington Ilion WKS. Ilion N.Y. USA. Browning pattern Oct.24 1916.
It is a 2 piece 22cal. semi automatic rifle Model 24 133228 and uses 22 cal.long rifle bullets.
Any onfo will be greatly appreciated. Dee

The Model 24 is not rare. Slightly over 130,000 were made between 1922 and 1935. Yours was made very late in the production run, possibly as late as 1938 during the mop-up of production. Check the barrel code section of this website and you should be able to determine the month and year of production.
