Model 1875

Post by jim 1251 »

I was recently given an old gun. The only markings that I can locate are "E Remington and sons" on the barrel. The weapon has a pinched front sight and the serial number (under the grip) reads 12444. The overall condition seems fair to good with only about 20% - 30% of the bluing left and a good amount of surface rust. Mechanically the weapon is fully functional (its timing and locking are tight) and it has no identifiable alterations. Through the internet I believe that I've been able to identify it as a model 1875 but I'm not sure of its value or how best to care for it. Can anyone give me some info on this?
