Hi all.
Wondering if you gentlemen could help me with a few questions regarding an original nickel plated Remington 1858? First would be the date of manufacture as 165xx is the serial number. Second being help in either locating a replacement front sight, or a very good illustration/picture that a repro could be fabricated from. Thank You.
Cheers
TheCounty
PS The dovetail for the front sight measures .147" wide at the bottom and .108 " wide at the opening (top).

Re: Nickel 1858
hello
as far as I know, it seems to be an early production 1862. BuT I think that Jay "ll be more accurate. Concerning the front sight go on vtigunparts site where you can order front sights of replicas or have a look on my post (strange front sight) and if you want I can send you more photos.
amicalement
