Hello everybody!
I'm new here, searching for some information...
Surfing through the old remington family website
http://www.herkimer.nygenweb.net/reming ... onfam.html
There I found the statement, that the Remington Family began to build pistols in 1847
Now the earliest Remington Pistol I know is the Beals Pocket, but that's some 10 years later.
Did Remington build pistols before the Beals? Or is that statement on the herkimer site wrong?
Many thanks in advance and best regards from Vienna/Austria

Re: earliest Remington pistol
Werner,
You are correct in your observation. Remington's first commercially produced pistol was the Beals Pocket Revolver, Model 1, Issue 1, serial number range 1-575, produced during 1857. In reading the text referred to, I suspect that this is a typographical error and being posted some seven years ago, the author has no doubt been advised numerous times, (you know how gun guys are).
