Recocking 1900 with Stock Removed

Post by bajajoaquin »

I recently removed the stock on my 1900, following the directions I found on this forum. For reassembly, one of the notes says if you had to fire both barrels to get the trigger guard off (I did), I’ll need to recock them before reassembly. There’s no real description of how to do that.

Two questions: 1) any greater detail on how to do that? 2) if I have to fire the triggers again to screw the trigger guard back on, wouldn’t that mean I need to recock them again?

I just put this up and it’s awaiting moderator approval, but I’ve answered my own question.

The directions I was reading http://www.remingtonsociety.org/forums ... php?t=4996 was for an 1894. Although the note says stock removal is the same, it appears that cocking for reassembly is not. At least on my 1900, you can reassemble and attach the forearm just fine with an uncocked gun.

I am posting this and leaving my question up in the hopes it helps someone else or someone with more knowledge than I have can chime in.
