Model 1889 wood

Post by Dallen1 »

I'm looking for wood for my 1889. The wood that is on it was poorly done so I want to replace it. Can anyone help?

You said 1898 there is no Model 1898 if it does not have hammers it is a 1894 or 1900. If it has hammers it is 1889 or earlier you have to find which one..

My typo it is a 1889 grade 1 the wood on it was hacked. This gun is a hand down from my wife's granddad and I'd like to get it looking it's best.

Sorry I think I am mistaken and mixed up the numbers. Ok I am on right track. What condition is your 1889 you said it is a grade 1.

It's nice, I'm getting ready to blue it. I'm not planning on shooting it but I was told it's in good enough shape to do so. I want to make it a family keeper and put it out for all to see. I had a guy with what I needed about a year ago but the wife put a veto on the transaction. I just got a new job that doubled my income so I'm on the hunt. My forarm is crap but I can possibly work with the stock, if I can find something to cut the hard wood they used.
