Hi There,

Well, the frame is from an 1870 USN rifle. The
butt-stock is not original. The original would
have a much better wood-metal fit. The step
in the wood/metal joint shouldn't be there.

As to the anomaly of an 1870 USN made into a carbine,
I think this is a very clever counterfeit. It would be
interesting to know how the bar extractor screw hole
was plugged. And whomever did it got a correct breech
block (or did an excellent welding/machining job).

Anyway, if it has a good bore (and the 1867 barrels sold
trough Dixie were supposed to be excellent), make some
BP Ammo and have some fun.
