141 carbine

Post by Danny58 »

Found a Remington 141 carbine at a local gun show. No one there seemed to realize what it was.

Its in .30 Rem. Matching serial number carbine. According to Rem. Society data collector on the 141 carbine. It was not offered with that stock configuration. His theory is that it was possibly built for a Remington employee. It could very well be one of one built. The dealer at the show dropped price and ate the tax..sold it to me for $350. I thought it maybe a parts gun with that stock and intended to use it as a good shooter. But as i disassembled and verified the numbers and contacted Rem Society I was very happy to find it to be originally built that way! And thanks for your interest, i collect a few classic deer rifles on a modest income. Model 8 in .30 Rem, 14 in 30 rem and now a 141. 250 rds of brass and a handloading press I shoot and hunt with them here in the Adirondack mtns.

Just a FYI an employee gun is marked with a 5 after the date code, like a 3 meaning a repair.
Sure has screaming condition.

All barrel codes and serial numbers were photographed and sent to Rem Society member Tom Hemphill. The information was verified and his opinion how the rifle may have been produced.

there's a local shop here with a 141 in 35 rem that looks almost new. They want $800. Is that high or low?

Is it in carbine? There are a lot of them out there in standard barrel length. I use GB rifles that have bids/selling to get a feel for the market value.
