Remington model 11
Remington model 11
First post so I apologise if I break and rules or norms... but I need some help trying to date my great grandfather's old model 11. The trickey part is the serial number appears to be 3036 and I cannot find any lead that confirms that even as a viable serial number. This was his every day gun so I wouldn't be surprised if some things are changed from original but I would just be interested to know when it was made. Any and help would be appreciated thank you.

Re: Remington model 11
Actually, your gun is a forerunner to the Model 11. When Remington Arms Co. introduced their version of this John M. Browning designed gun it was called the Remington Autoloading Shotgun. In 1911, Marcellus Hartley Dodge combined his arms and ammunition companies as Remington Arms - Union Metallic Cartridge Co. and in their first catalog dated 1911-12 they began calling this JMB designed gun the Model No. 11. Your gun is for sure from the first years production in 1905.

Re: Remington model 11
Thank you! Wish gun prices would have stayed the same. Would that mean that the breech bolt would have been replaced as it is marked "model 11" or was that the norm in the "autoloader".
