Hello everybody!
i am new here i hope somebody can help me. I have an original Remington Light Carbine in caliber .44 Henry RF.
The serial number is 1135.
In which year was the rifle built?

Hello Jens,
You will need to post some more photos of the carbine.
Like the overall view of the carbine, maybe one showing the patent dates that are
on the top of the upper tang.
The numbers on the side of the upper and lower tang are not serial numbers, but
assembly numbers.
Have a Good Day,
Matt

The Light Baby Carbine was manufactured by E. Remington & Sons from 1885-1886, and by the Remington Arms Co. from 1890-1910. The top tang will be marked accordingly.
The early batch of carbines was made in .44 RF and .44-40 calibers. The later batch was made in .44 CF only.
No data on assembly numbers versus date of manufacture is available.

I will make a photo of the upper tang today ...
Re: IDìng A Remington Light Baby Carbine .44 RF
By your photos, this does not appear to be a Light Baby Carbine. It has the wrong buttplate shape, and the hammer and breechblock spurs are too thick - those on the Baby Carbine were much more delicate. The Baby Carbine has an 18 inch barrel; what is the barrel length on this carbine?

The Barrel lenght is 16,54 inch...
And it is stamped ,B'
What sort of carbine is it...?
Re: IDìng A Remington Light Baby Carbine .44 RF
For clarity, did you measure the complete barrel length, from muzzle to the face of the breechblock? Otherwise known as "in the bore" length.
Re: IDìng A Remington Light Baby Carbine .44 RF
Here are some photos and measurements of a Remiongton Light Baby Carbine, with a 20 inch barrel and
chambered in 44-40 centerfire.
Have a Good Day,

Hi Matt and ehull.
So, the, in the bore length` is 18 "....
maybe it is an early variant and the runlength has changed once? it's from e.remington & sons .., so built from 1885-1886.
otherwise the mass will fit.
Best regards
jens

One key measurement is the thickness of the frame. Matt shows 1.140 inches. The standard military frame, called the No. 1 for sporting arms, is thicker.
