In trying to decipher your post........

I came to a few questions you need to ask yourself:

How do you know that they were the property of a Remington president?

Do you have those initials in the proper order?

Could they have belonged to Richard E. Heckert?

From an obituary:

Mr. Heckert joined the DuPont Co. in 1949 and spent his entire career at the company, rising to CEO in 1986. He became a director, senior vice president and a member of the Executive Committee on Oct. 1, 1973. He became president and chief operating officer of the company, vice chairman of the Executive Committee and a member of the Finance Committee on May 1, 1981. Following the company's merger with Conoco, he was elected a vice chairman of DuPont on Oct. 1, 1981. He was elected deputy chairman of the Board of Directors on Aug. 28, 1985, and was named chairman and chief executive officer on May 5, 1986. He was also a member of the Board of Directors of the Seagram Company Ltd.

By the way, Dick had a seasonal residence in the area where I live and our paths crossed occasionally.

Gunbroker seller stated in his advertisement , Rem. Presidents' matched pair presented to him @ the time of production. Matched pair, 3200 1-1000's sn# (T1 & SK1) sold for over 7K within the last few days, with pictured 1-1000 original grip cap from top to bottom reading, "EHR" and additional pictures exceeding over 100 in total of the matched pair accompanied with the initialed grip cap pictured. My understanding always has been that the middle letter on a Remington grip cap stood for the last name of the owner, unless ordered specifically different @ the owners request ???

These guns were sold by the President of Remington to a board of directors member in the 1990's. The board member Edward H Rensi had his initials engraved on the guns at that time. He consigned to guns to be sold and they were sold on Gunbroker.

The initials EHR probably stood for Edward H Rensi, who was a brother to Sam Rensi, a Remington Vice President and Plant Manager. Ed was a CEO of McDonalds at one point
