Remington Model 1861 I have a few questions

Post by Jim C »

I have come across a Remington 1858 that I am told they call it a 1861? and it was made only a couple of years before the New Model as they call it, came along. this pistol is in very good shape no pitting but hardly any bluing, mechanically sound just a nice example I was told all theses models where shipped to the Army? but the stocks on the pistol don't have any markings but appear to be original? also what is fair market value for a pistol like this? thanks

If it is a "61" model it should say so on the top of the the barrel at the end of the patent date. What is the serial number, found under left grip and bottom if barrel? If it has no cartouche on the grip it may be a reject or a civilian sale. Send me more info. Jay Huber RSA
