DATING MODEL 12C

Just purchased Model 12C (24" Octagonal Barrel-Curved Metal Butt Plate, Flip-Up Peep Sight)
"Model 12 #658098" stamped on side.
Could someone advise year of manufacture? Thank you very much.

I just got my great grand fathers Remington Model 12-C with 24" octagon barrel serial no. 498771 with a J underscore on the left side of the barrel. Does anyone know site where I can check the date of manufacturer?

I would guess December 1925 but it will be date code stamped.
The manufactured dates link on the home page has the table.

1920 pre-date codes.

I believe John/Roy has the serial table it their book, it's out of print but still available from several sources.
