Dating Remington 1889 and value please

Post by quietman123 »

Hello to all. I recently purchased a Remington Model 1889 shotgun. It is a Grade 3. All original. Gun is in good condition mechanically and only imperfection is 1 crack in stock. Serial number is 34xxx. Bore has some pitting, not bad. All-in-all nice looking worn but solid gun. I have someone wanting to trade for an old Colt 1892. Can a range of value be offered? I am very appreciative. Dan

According to the S/N you supplied, your '89 was produced in 1890.

The '89 was offered in three grades off-the-shelf while higher grades were offered only as special order. The grades differed in barrel material with #! (good) using decarbonized steel, #2(better) using twist steel and #3 (best) using damascus steel.

Without seeing the gun there is no way to determine value. Good luck.
