Rolling block in caliber .38-50?

Post by DonCarnage »

Hi, a question if there ever was a creedmoor rolling block made in caliber .38-50 (Remington-Hepburn)?
Or was this caliber only made for Remington-Hepburn actions?
Reason for asking is that it seems to be a .38 caliber that some people build to shoot blackpowder long or midrange matches with in a rolling block action.
Any books who mention this action/barrel/caliber setup or other info?

In all probability yes. But it would have been a Mid Range not a Long Range
Short Range 1-200
Mid Range 200-700
Long Range 800-1200

Remington announced their new offhand rifle would be ready for shipping in November 1879. It was available in 38-50 and 40-65. This was a rolling block rifle starting around ser # 8200 and can be seen in Roys book. They had announced the 40-65 would be available in June 1879 but no special models were indicated. I once had a mid range rifle in 38-50 which I sold to the late Al Perry. I do not know the ser #. Ed
