help in Identifying sxs remington

I have a SXS with the serial number 42883. The #3 on barrells and also underneath the barrell there is 17224 with the letter F near it. nice engravings around the trigger ares and the plates. Barrells are silver look like damscus because they have the wavy.. need help in time line and any info

First we need to know if your gun is marked E. Remington & Sons or is it marked Remington Arms Co.? If it is Remington Arms Co. and has hammers it would be a Model 1889 and made about late 1891. If the gun is marked E. Remington & Sons they made a plethora of hammer gun models -- the Whitmores where you lift the top lever -- Models 1873, 1875, 1876, 1878 and 1879. With a conventional top lever -- Models 1882, 1883, 1885 and 1887.
