1890 Police?????? S/A

I have an old Remington SA. I believe is either an 1890 or 1888, whatever that is. Does anyone have any new info on the 1888 or what about this 1890 police......my SA is in good shape and everwhere the serial is supposed to be is the number "6"........Can someone help me
