26" barrel on the .244, all 3 of mine are 26". I do believe however, that they dropped back to 24" around 1958 when they started making the transition model, without the barrel boss, have never seen a "T" .244 so couldn't say for certain.

I was looking at some old American Rifleman magazines and ran across a Remington ad that announces the model 722 rifle in " new 244 caliber for varmints and game" It states "The Model 722 in new 244 Remington caliber has a special 26" barrel with the same precision rifling and accuracy specifications that have made the model 722 in 222 Remington caliber famous." This was in the October. 1955 issue.

Three Remington 722 chambered in 244. You own a small piece of heaven. I'm looking for my first Remington 722 chambered in 244. Presently I only have one in 257 Roberts and one in 300 Savage. Both rifles have taken two Michigan deer on their first hunt. Remington 722's are very responsive when you have to swing to a running deer.
