Would it be possible if you could tell me if this gun is the same year and model as yours?

It looks a lot like it, but I am not an expert; I had it appraised at an upstate NY gun dealer, and asked this forum and looked at many online sites. What is the seri al number of your gun?

The serial # of mine is 2488. I have received many different responses to which year and model shotgun it is. They all seem to say its between 1873-1878 and the grade is between 3 and 5. I have visited the local gun shops, a gunsmith, and a gun magazine to find out or to verify information on it, but havent had any luck. Can you upload some pics of the Butt plate and the fore arm? Mine is missing the buttplate and the trim near trigger guard/stock. It would be nice to see what they look like. I appreciate anything you could send.

I cannot tell much from your photo, but by serial number and configuration of the hammer, it definitely is a Model 1875. If you look at the face of the hammers you will notice they are cupped. Again from the photo I have to guess it is a Grade 2. However, if there is engraving on the sides, bottom and hammers, then it could be a Grade 3. The buttplate would be steel. I'm not sure but it looks like there is a piece missing in the front part of the forend. This would be a blackish horn insert. And I don't know what you mean about "the trim near trigger guard/stock". Perhaps some better, clear photos would help.
