First blood for my 141

Post by Muddly »

My 1941 Model 141 loaded with a 200 gr CoreLokt and 37 gr of IMR 3031( chrono'd 2100 fps) made a MESS of a nice fat Pa. doe last Saturday. Made a left handed shot from a tree stand, I am very RIGHT handed, at 30 yards. The shot went in alittle high for the spine but it knocked her down for awhile until I could get out of the stand. I aimed for a back of the neck finishing shot BUT made a head shot instead. No pictures as she wound up with a face for radio! Never saw damage like that before...Anyway, now I know why these rifles are so well regarded.Any rifle I can make an open sighted left hand shot with is alright by me!

Good to hear someone else still uses these fine old rifles for deer hunting. I started out the season with a Mo 14 but had to switch because the deer werent offering shots within 200 yds.

I grew up in Erie, PA and the Rem 14 and 141 rifles were still being used quite regularly in the middle 60's for deer and bear hunting. I brought my Rem 14 .35 with me to Savannah, GA in 1968 when I was in the Army-ended up trading it for a Win Model 12-still have that Model 12..wish I had that Rem 14 now..have started collecting unmessed with Rem 141's..have three now: Serials 37XX, 39XX, and 46XXX. Wish I had more..

I know the feeling; one can never have enough 141s...and I've gained a recent affinity for the .32s.

Should change my name to "Gamemaster Addict."

Please save some "unmessed" ones for me!

Question for gunguy56. Do your two early 141s have the 24 inch barrel and the Gamemaster logo stamped on the receiver? My # 2322 does not have either, it is date code DD. Ken Blauch
