Remington Pump uses 30 Rem. ammo.

Post by richlucy »

I have a Remington Pump that uses 30 Rem. ammunition. The patent dates are Oct. 12, 09, July 5, 10, and Nov. 19,12. The markings are "Remington Arms -- Union Metallic Cartridge Co.". The serial number is "C 12148". I'd appreciate any information you can give me about this rifle. Thank you.

You rifle was made during the second year of production of the Model 14 1913. 30 Rem ammo is no longer made but some custom ammunition manufactures still load it. The Model 14 was made in a rifle 22" barrel and a carbine 18-1/2" barrel. There were several grades with the most common one being the "A" grade (straight grained wood, no checkering or engraving). The "C" grade had fancy wood and checkering with no engraving. The "D", "E" and "F" had progressively fancy wood and engravijng. The model 14 was made from 1912 to 1935 when it was replaced by the Model 141. There have been many questions about the Model 14 on this site. I would encourage you to do a seach of the forum for bits of information from the past.
