Unusual Barrel Code

Post by avery53 »

The gun is a 870 lw 20ga with a S prefix on the serial number. 2-3/4 only. It has the mahogany wood if that helps.

Is the F supposed to be a P? I'm guessing it's 1972.

Could even be an "E" (with the bottom leg chopped off). That would still be a 1972 manufacture (October).

I wondered about the 2 3/4" only designation, but after consulting my 1972 catalog, it appears there were still designations for the standard and magnum categories in the Lightweight version.
