Model 1100 Nickel, Chrome? Looking for information

Post by mcox8051 »

I recently bought an 1100 from a friend of mine and I am trying to gather some information about it. It has a silver receiver, chrome or nickel, with some embellishments, very nice high grade stock and forearm. There are no numbers or letters on the left side of the barrel and I'm not positive it came on this gun. The barrel length is 20.5". On the receiver is "N962771V". I'm looking for production numbers and date of manufacture, and of course approximate value. Overall the gun is in excellent condition. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

That is standard second generation (started 1979) 1100 wood. Rollmarking is also second generation. Serial number prefix N ran from 1078 to 1985, and I would guess 1984. So that all matches. Looks like a standard smooth bore deer barrel. I do not recall a silver receiver, so it may be aftermarket electroless nickel.
What could have happened... did.
