1889 with cut barrels

Post by dueyferg »

Hi, this is my first DB and my first antique. I think I am hooked! Just wanted to know some info.

It is an 1889 with serial number 86764. What year was it made?

The barrels have been cut to 19 3/4". How much does this affect it being a collectible?

What would you put the value at (see pics)? It is a grade 1.

I picked it up for $280. Did I do well?

Thank you for all and any info.

Your gun was made in 1898. We do not evaluate guns since we can not handle them. The cut barrels detract from the value of the gun however. I would say you didn't do to bad at $280 and you now have a coach gun. Jay Huber RSA

Thanks for the info. It is hard to believe that it is 112 years old. Pretty cool though.

Nice gun and in good condition as well. I note the difference between pic four and five of the action shots. Case hardening showing in pic four but not five? is this gun or camera? Anyway these are my favorite Remington doubles. Sorry change five to four in pics.
