As I recall, the shortest barrel offered off-the-shelf was 28". However I assume shorter barrels could be special ordered. I'd measure the chokes and see if they agree with the chokes stamped on the lug. The barrels most likely have been cut but maybe not. Worth a try.

Well, it's beyond my skills to accurately figure out what 4" of your Damascus barrels might have weighed, LOL, but even if they had weighed the same as mine, your gun is coming out lighter by 3 ounces despite a slightly longer LOP. Too many unknowns to really infer very much....I'd been hoping yours was 14" LOP and 30" barrels.

Canvasback I have 2 1984 12 gauges with 26" barrels on the 16 gauge frames
one has the right barrel mod and left barrel full choke and weight 3 lb. 3 oz .
the other has right barrel improve cylinder and full choke and weight 3 lb. 4 oz.
Both guns have had the right barrel open up
One gun weight is 6 lb. 11 oz. and the other weight is 6 lb. 13 oz.
If your gun has the Remington butt plate remove it and see is if has 2 holes drill in it
I also have a 1900 12 gauge on the 16 gauge frame but it has 28 in. barrels and it has 2 holes in it
