You have a Model 1889 made in 1890. The '89 was made from 1888 until 1910 when Remington discontinued production of not only the '89 but also the two hammerless SxS models (1894 & 1900) in favor of the new pump and auto loader models.

You have a 2 stamped next to the S/N which indicates it is a grade 2 equipped with twist steel barrels. The lower grade 1 has decarbonized steel barrels while the grade 3 has Damascus steel. Grades 4 and higher were available but had to be special ordered.

All grades were made with the "new" smokeless powders in mind and many of us still shoot low pressure SP loads.
