need help with identifying this shotgun

Post by springXDsc »

I have been told this is a 1890 remingtons arms double barrel shotgun. this is been in the family over 30 years that i know of. there is a number that repeats itself which i would think that it is a seriel number 59484. please help me identify what this is. I think it has a damascus barrel. this guy at the gun show offered me $300 for it. I would like more info to find a value for it. Also it is missing the right side trigger, where would i get another one?

It is a Model 1889 and with Damascus barrels it would be a Grade 3. You will see a lone number 3 to the left of the serial on the "water" table. Serial 59484 indicates it left the factory in early of 1894. Being so much has been to the stocks, I would not think it worth much more than your offer. An original right hammer would be very hard to find, and if found could cost $70.00-$100.00. You might try Wisner's Gun Parts.
