Fieldmaster 121 - 1947?

Post by jjjxlr8 »

I'm trying to find a value range for a Family member's old guns and one is a Remington Fieldmaster Model 121, serial number 180##. Is this a 1947 produced rifle? I'm the "gun guy" in the Family but I only collect military firearms so I wasn't sure on the details of these sporting rifles (and shotguns).

What's the value range for these? It's in really good original condition and the bore is pristine.

There's a serial list on site but for a 121 you are much better with the data code on the barrel, I just don't know how accurate the list is.

People typically won't give values without a gun in hand for anything, your best best for value is to look for like on sites like gun broker or guns international, I believe there is still a sold on gun broker so it's not just what people think it's worth.

I believe the 121 is still the best pump 22 rifle made to this day.

Thanks for the quick response and the link. Here's a photo of the code on the barrel. I guess it's a "B" "G"?

So I guess this is January 1938 manufacture?

It looks like these rifles did not have scope mounts so someone must have drilled and tapped this to install the dovetails. How much does that hurt the value? If someone did that on a military rifle it would absolutely destroy the collector value.

Ah, thanks. Didn't see that other page.

Well, time to try it out at the range! I ended up buying all of them from my relative. They were my wife's uncle's grandfather's guns originally. Might as well keep them in the family for a while longer. :)
