Remington model 14 serial number confusion

Post by hunterlew »

I'm confused about the serial number on a model 14 that I just purchased. My serial # is 119789 which the chart shows a 1932 mfg. date but the barrel stamp on the left side looks like o, y, 2 which means that it could be a 1930 model, but the patent information stamped on the barrel puts it in the type 6 area which is in the mfg. date range of 1935 - 1937. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Remington did NOT make these rifles by serial number. We have records
showing rifles with serials in the 1915 range that were assembled in the 30's, in fact like 1934 with all the latest upgrades.

Your barrel code is when the rifle was assembled and it could have used
a barrel or any other part from God knows when. That's the fact, enjoy
your rifle.
