Remington Model 12 help!
Hi, I recently inherited a Remington model 12 that was my great great grandfathers. I would like to know what grade it is and when it was made. It has a straight stock with crescent buttplate, octagon barrel, and a flip up peep sight on the back of the reciever and on the front of the barrel. Stamped "short, long, or long rifle". There is no model number on the gun, but the serial number is "91281". Any information is greatly appreciated.
Re: Remington Model 12 help!
It's a 12-C and was made in 1911, the pop-up sight is likely a Lymann.

Thank you, how did you tell the age? And were the peep sights factory or not? The rear peep has only 2 screw holes.

Here is a picture of the rear sight. It says R12 on the bottom. And a picture of the front.
