Remington 25 scope mount

Post by 35Rem »

So, I've got a Model 25 in 25-20 that was previously drilled for a scope.
Any clues on what base it may have been?
Looks like 4 1/8" total distance between screw holes.

Bizarre...............and they had to screw up both the barrel and the frame!

Anyhow, the only mounts that I know of that had a hole pattern resembling that would be a Redfield JR mount, some had two holes at one end and one at the other but it would have required a lot of milling to make it fit. In checking some "old" catalogs back in the 50's and no one shows a listing for the Model 25. Truly, I haven't a clue but thought I would mention the JR mounts. The dude might also have mounted a target scope style block to the barrel for some reason, we'll probably never know.

Good luck and behave!

I think it would use the same mount for a model 12 or 121. I, too, thought a Redfield Junior might exist.
I've since ordered a piece of weaver rail and will attempt to fit it.
I did consider just using a short rail and counting a mini reflex on it. If I can fit a weaver rail I'll just use a Leupold 2-7x33 I have. At least for load development.
Thanks!
