760 300 Savage Carbine ?

Recently purchased a 1953 ( K ZZ ) model 760 in 300 Savage with an 18 1/2 " barrel. Does the 18 1/2 inch barrel alone make it a carbine or are there other features on the carbine? Info that I have seen says the carbine was not introduced until 1960.

True 760 carbines are stamped CARBINE on the left side of the barrel....

Carbines didn't come out til 1960. I would say a 300S with an 18.5" barrel may likely have been cut down. An easy job for a good smith.
