Help Dating a Remington 550-1

I am having trouble understanding this barrel code. I know it is either July 1950 if the code is "OW" or August 1928 or 1972 if the code is "WW". Since this model was only made from 1941-1970, I would think it's the July 1950 date. If so, what is the last "W" for? Any help would be appreciated.

" O WW " is July 1950. "WW" is a purposely duel letter year stamp.
