Argentine carbine, .43 spanish

Post by Enslaved87 »

Greetings again to all! I just picked up an Argentine rolling block calvery carbine which is in pretty good condition. That said, I noticed something that my other Remingtons don't do/have. With the breech closed and hammer down, I can move the breech block fore and aft a good bit. I haven't measured it yet. It seems like the hammer doesn't sit tight against the breech but I can push it a bit and it locks up solid like I would expect. Do you think this is a safety concern?

Don't shoot it until you get it sorted out by a specialist.

Using it in that condition could result in you wearing a lot of metal in your face.

I love the brutal honesty

I took the whole thing apart and discovered that the main spring was bent down at the tip. Somebody's attempt at trigger lightening perhapa? Either way, I re- the spring and the action locks up tight as a clam. That said, I will still get it looked at by an expert. Thanks for the Input!
