A beautiful DD refinished in GERMANY (1999)

Post by wildwest »

Hello guys,

I bought in décember 1999 (PARIS, DUNE store, CHAMPS ELYSEES avenue) a beautiful DD
(1888-1911 périod); bores not perfect but it was refinished in GERMANY and I am still
searching for the company's name. A fine dark blue and it didn't change since 15 years
Of course, I avoid touching it too much. Gilding are not in gold...
Apparently the sixth variation; I don't know if this store always propose this kind of
thing, they also sell security equipments.

The first pictures in dec 1999 with a SONY VGA camera and the last five recently with a
SONY DSC-TX1

Hi,

A very nice refinish. The frames were iron while the barrels were steal. This results in the frames turning a plum brown when re-blued in modern, hot blue process. What ever process was used for the re-finish resulted in a very nice and even overall finish. Very nice pistol.

Thank you, and I am still searching... The price was heavy, about 18,000 francs (just before the euro)
so 3,000 euros now. I know this difference between frame and barrels, and I asked recently a french
gunsmith for refinishing another one but the result on frame was not exciting compared to this beautiful DD.
Certain knowledge are lost, we can't use the same products (prohibited sometimes)
Since 1999, I never saw another one like this. I have 10 DD now and this one belongs to my three most great
REMINGTON Double Derringer; I will add pictures maybe soon of a wonderful engraved blued and my L75001,
the first (??) of the L75 series, which is "as new"; an other thanks to Mr FAGAN for this engraved, came from
one of his friends.
