1911 45 caliber identification help

Post by Muzz4939 »

I have found this old pistol I thought it was a colt 1911 . But I have found that the serial number didnt fit
its located behind the pin hole on the rh side and it is like this : NO 538 no line under the O
thats why i think its a reminton 1911 but the slide is colt and has a hartfield connecticut name on it ,

Anyone have any info on that kind of unit ?

I believe you are correct, that it is a Remington-UMC frame.
I would like to ask if it is Blue or parkerized? Many years ago I purchased, what I thought was
a 1911 Rem.-UMC (very nice slide and markings), which had been government refinished. Only later did I find out it has a Colt frame. I guess they didn't keep the parts together when refinishing, or it might have been done later.
