572 failure to feed up

Model 572 F to F fix.Remington repair manuel saycarrier may be binding. It is not. If bolt face is chamfered too much replace it. It is not. Next they say replace barrel. Looking through my take-off barrels i found 3 for this model that I evidently had replaced in the past. I doubt if Rem will replace anything now. Clear, dismantle and see if a cartridge will easily feed by hand up through the opening in the bottom of the barrel. This opening slot would not allow a cartridge to enter at all in the one I have here currently. Vice the barrel, use a 1/8 dia stone in your Foredom and from the back of the bolt underneath grind each side of this opening so that a cartridge wil feed up through. Grind a little and check frequently.
