Remington Model 700 Rifle Question - Old

Post by tacklebeary »

I inherited a Remington Model 700 .270. It has a serial number of 177857. The only other marking I can find is 9/62. Is this a rifle made in September 1962? I don't have any other information. I believe the barrel is only 20" long, but not sure where to start the measurement from.

Thanks for your help!!

This link will tell you when it was made.

The barrel date codes are letters and not numbers.

Based on the serial number you gave, I'd say it was probably built around or slightly before November of 1965.
