Hello all! What a great forum!
I have purchased a Remington Model 1858 New Model Army 44 Cal 8" with all of the exterior serial numbers and proof marks polished off over time. I need to verify it's true antique status in order to import it into Canada.
The serial number under the grip is 62641

Re: Remington New Army antique status
My best information so far is that the serials 23000 through 68000 should have been shipped in 1863 but I am hoping some detail might tell me more.

Re: Remington New Army antique status
Hi Gary,
Your New Model Army revolver was made in March of 1864. You shouldn't have any trouble taking in into Canada since it is not in firing condition. The serial number will also be on the bottom of the left grip frame, and the trigger guard tab.
Good luck,
Dan
