Were theses revolvers made with forged steel frames or cast?

The frames of the percussion guns were cast iron. Could it be that the cartridge guns were also cast iron? Casting was cheaper than forging, so my guess is that whatever metal, it was cast.

I would say Forged. All the rolling blocks were forged. If you have the book on the rolling block pistols it gives a phase by phase series of events. Starting with a piece of bar stock heated white hot and then multiple trips to a trip hammer equipped with dies to form the parts. Pretty interesting to read.
