Thanks. Any info as to where it was shipped after being produced? Did it go to a military regiment or sold on the civilian market?

If your revolver has small inspection letters stamped on various parts and a cartouche on the left grip it was shipped to the Ordnance Department. There is a good possibility that it was issued to Company A of the 13th Missouri Volunteer Cavalry in January of 1865. Springfield Research Records show that SN 88119 and 88149 were both issued to that unit so it is likely SN 88122 was also issued at the same time.

Bill, I read your information with interest. Is there any way to get any more information on my 1858 Revolver (90040) other than ship date of August 1864? It does have the many inspection letters and the cartouche letters on the left grip. I would love to find more information. Thanks

Unfortunately none that I know of. If the serial number was listed in the Springfield Research Report and yours is not, you could go to the National Archives in Washington DC and look up the information.
