info on a 1858 serial number believed to be 1224

First timer here and 100% clueless! How can I access info on a model 1858 with what I believe to be a serial # pf 1224?

Just found this post in the General area instead of the handgun area. A picture would e very helpful to determine the model. Are the letters, "pf" part of the serial number? The serial will be in 3 places. The left grip frame under the grip, underside of the barrel, and on the trigger guard tab. Serial 1224 would have been made in June of 1862, but no info on where it went to.
