Help on 1858 E. Remington
Help on 1858 E. Remington
I am trying to get information on my father's 1858 Remington. Barrel length from muzzle to cylinder is about 7-2/8 inches. Serial number on bottom flat of barrel and under left handle is 23407. On brass trigger guard left side small "B". Any help is appreciated on this antique!
Re: Help on 1858 E. Remington
Hello,
From the serial number and assuming the barrel has not been cut I believe you have a 36 caliber New Model Navy Revolver. The barrel length from the cylinder to the muzzle is 7 and 3/8th inches on a Remington Navy. The B on the trigger guard is an inspection mark. Approximately 22,000 were manufactured from January 1863 thru December 1865.
I hope this helps,
Bill
