Picked this on up last week. .46 cal, 5 shot New Army that was converted by Remington. Conversion number is 777. It also has the frame relief with nice bluing. Serial number is 124849...

The C.A. stands for Citizens Association as in the Citizens Association of Chicago. Formed in 1874 after the second Chicago fire by a group of business and professional men to institute the reforms demanded by insurance underwriters for increased fire protection in the city. Recognizing the need for a broad program of reform, the group immediately expanded it’s scope to that of a non-partisan, study-action group devoted to investigation and correcting civic problems and the structure of municipal government. There are approximately 400 New Model Army revolvers with a C.A. stamp on the right frame in front of the cylinder. There is an article in the second quarter of 2017 Remington Collectors Journal which further explains the origin of these markings,
